Assistant Coach, 16U (2021 - 2022)
Coach Thompson is entering his 40th year of coaching ice hockey. The past two seasons he has been the Assistant Head Coach of the 18U team. For the previous four years Coach Thompson was the bench boss of the Hitmen 16U team. In 2016-2017 he and his Co-Coach Brach Healey were named “Coach of the Year” for the USPHL. Over the years Coach Thompson has been instrumental in many players securing Division 1 college commitments. Prior to coming to the Hitmen Coach Thompson spent several years with the NJ Bandits program coaching both the 16U and the Bantam teams. His Bantam team in 2012 won the Bronze Medal at the USA Nationals.
Thompson spent the majority of his coaching career at the Tier 1 (AAA) Midget level with the Ramapo Saints and Junior level where he coached at the New Jersey Rockets as a Head Coach, and New Jersey Devils as an associate Head Coach. He has served as the Don Bosco Prep Associate Head Coach for 5 years, Team New Jersey Assistant Coach for the Chicago Showcase, Head Coach for Team New Jersey in the America's Showcase, Head Coach for the Garden State Games and has also served as an evaluator for the USA Hockey District Program.
Coach Thompson was also the owner of Garden State Training camp.
At the Tier 1 level Thompson has won a number of League , District and Regional Championships over the years with several appearances in the National Championships.
When he isn't coaching hockey, Coach Thompson owns and operates his own Textile and Apparel company that has offices in New York and China.
