Hitmen thwart Revolution

Warwick, PA - This past Wednesday the Hitmen traveled to Philadelphia and continued their 2010, 22 game point streak, beating the Revolution 8-3. The Hitmen were lead by two, 3 point efforts, from Will Frederick and Jimmy Day. Both players tallied a goal and two assists in the victory, keeping the Hitmen's southern division championship run alive.

With 2 games remaining, the Hitmen sit just 4 points behind the southern division leading, South Shore Kings, with the tiebreaker in their back pocket. The Hitmen earned the tie breaker by compiling a 2-0-2 season record versus the Kings.

"If you asked me to sign up for a 5 loss season on September 1st, and told me that we would be sitting in the position that we are right now, I would have taken it...." commented coach Harris. "The boys are loose. The boys are playing hard, and I like how we have gelled in the new year. The additions of players such as Steve Racine, Doug Marshall and Justin Agosta, and with Luke Hannon off the IR and ready to play, we have changed our identity and approach. This team is hungry and competing for every point down the home stretch."

In their final two games, the Hitmen meet Apple Core and the Boston Jr Bruins, both teams already have their tickets punched for the post-season. Coach Harris spoke on their remaining schedule, "we match up well with Apple Core, however they are a very well coached, talented team, and they compete very hard. The Jr Bruins have really caught fire since starting slowly. Peter Masters is pushing all the right buttons and I know that they will also be a tough out. However, this is what we train for all summer. We preach here that nothing comes easy, and I know are boys relish the opportunity to compete for a third straight EJHL southern division title."

NEWS and NOTES:  Hitmen forward, and local product, Robert Sorrenti has committed to Nichols College for the fall of 2010. The 2009 ECAC Northeast Champion Nichols Bison lost in the second round of the NCAA division III hockey championships last year.

"Lou Izzi is getting a great player and extremely hard worker in Robert," commented Toby Harris. "I am so excited for Robbie and his family, and I am happy that he finished his Jr. career close to home with the Hitmen. He will be a very valuable asset for Nichols next season and in the future!"

Sorrenti was a New Jersey all-state selection for Ramapo High School 2 years ago.
